Another Kind of Piano Style

There are many different piano styles to choose to play from, but today we are looking at another kind of style—the physical and visual style! Lets face it, musicians have got style. With a swagger matched only maybe by athletes or a select few other professions, musicians make up a large portion of the style in this world. Thus if you're going to play music, you have got to have some style and swagger. Some are born with it and for others it is a learned attribute. Check out a few pianist who have mastered their own styles below.

Eric "ELEW" Lewis

"A modern day pop artist and musical revolutionary," Eric Lewis has made a name for himself performing with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, Cassandra Wilson, Josh Groban, and most recently recording with Lil' Wayne on "IANAHB." The trademark armor, propensity for striking poses, and persona all amount to piano style all his own.

Bernie Worrell

Bernie Worrell of Parliament-Funkadelic Plays Moog

Being a member of Parliament-Funkadelic alongside the likes of George Clinton and Bootsy Collins has to  automatically jumpstart your own style initiatives and that is exactly what it did for Bernie Worrell. An innovator in the use of synthesizers and the idea behind "Moog bass," Worrell developed a definite style of his own sporting lots of bright purples, traditional African garb, and an array of headgear (namely cloth hats and bandanas).
