Do you remember the Kooks? Don’t worry, no one else does either at this point. But wasn’t that a fun time to be alive? The 1975 are a lot like the Kooks, employing frantic guitar rhythms and simple, sentimental lyrics. Even if you scoff at this idea, the song has an undeniably danceable nature to it, which is a rarity now that most guitar music either tries to sound folksy or transcendent. Maybe “Chocolate” sounds slightly outdated, but it seems too busy having fun to notice.
