Way before Nirvana came out with their pop culture-shattering "Smells Like Teen Spirit", the Pixies had been experimenting with making aggressively sloppy pop music. What may have felt like a contradiction, clean background harmonies alongside primitive guitar arrangements, became the blueprint for an entire decade of pop music. "Where is My Mind?", one of the band's earlier songs, is also one of their most representative.
