Lana Del Rey's "West Coast" - Chromatik's Tune of the Day

When most artists invoke the left side of the US, they typically use a formula requiring a decent portion of saccharine vocals and youthful lyrics. So when Lana Del Rey writes a song about the west coast, she's obviously going to trash the blueprint--and this song is nothing but sinister. That’s not to say Lana Del Rey gets the summer beach anthem wrong. Her hooks are languid and breezy, ready to drive off into the sunset a la the Bonnie and Clyde movie she's convinced is her life.
